United Visions Creates Exciting Genre-Based Films for Volkswagen Group

A total of 8 genre-based films - ranging from thriller to love story - were created for the Volkswagen Group brands representing in China, with each film underlining the motto of the evening: "Night of the Stars." The films made a considerable contribution to what was an unforgettable evening of cinema and live entertainment.
In addition to producing various other clips, United Visions was once again responsible for the evening's entire CI presentation. Over and above the comprehensive graphics package, UV also produced - for the first time ever - a series of entertaining film posters designed to create a "cinema" atmosphere in the foyer and get audiences in the right mood for the event to come.
The main screen at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium was also especially noteworthy: with the help of 14 video projectors, the films and animated content were shown in a 1:1.3 aspect ratio on a 25 meter-wide and 8 meter-high rear projection including a pixel mapping display of 1920 x 614. Among the equipment used were 8 Barco HDQ-2K40s for the main screen and 6 Panasonic PT-DZ21Ks for the two 16:9 screens. These consumed a total of 6 kilowatts of power.
Two further 16:9 front projections on the side screens rounded out viewers' impressive visual experience.
In keeping with the evening's glamorous "Night of the Stars" motto, the eight films created by UV - which were shot over the course of 15 days - functioned as the Group Night's main dramaturgical thread. Each of the 8 auto brand appearances was assigned a specific film genre that fit its unique style.
Action Film: For the presentation of the Lamborghini Huracán, United Visions staged an exciting car chase. In addition to spectacular stunts, the highlight of this action-packed genre film was an interactive moment in which the hero car literally came shooting out of the film live on stage. Then, after a short appearance, the car proceeded to dive straight back into the film and the story continued.
Love Story: Skoda was on hand in Beijing to present the Asian edition of the Octavia, which was introduced by a romantic and emotional split-screen film titled "Intercontinental Love," whose two complementary halves were shot in Asia and Europe respectively.
Modern Western: For the world premiere of the new Volkswagen Touareg, United Visions produced a classic Western film with a surprisingly modern finale.
We combined material shot in Chile, Germany, Utah and China to create an entertaining cinematic experience that was topped off by the appearance of film star Zhang Hanyu.
Space Opera: The spectacular presentation of the Porsche Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS was introduced by an elaborately animated science fiction film and then taken a step further by means of interactive live performers, flying objects and film performers.
Legends: Automobile heritage met luxurious modernity by means of the historical Bugatti Type 18 and Veyron "Black Bess" - both appeared live on stage as well as in the exciting film that preceded their presentation.
Gangster Film: A group of criminals is planning a big coup: this gangster movie shot in the classic "heist film" genre set the stage for the presentation of the SEAT Leon Cupra.
Thriller: A large transport box with top-secret contents is on its way to Beijing - this is the starting point for this suspense-packed film that was shot, among other locations, in the flight simulator at Babelsberg Film Studios near Berlin. The film's narrative continued on stage with the live delivery of the box.
Martial Arts Film: The work of British martial artist Grace Bruce was captured and shown on screen in a series of stunning and emotional images. Following that, Bruce also appeared live on stage and ushered in the presentation of the Bentley Mulsanne Hybrid Concept.
United Visions received support from Postfactory, our long-time partner for ingesting, editing and play-out, as well as from Omstudios, our service provider for high-end 3D graphics production.
Our highly skilled team also included up'n friends (direction), Redrock (composition), Nadine Imboden (choreography), Feld & Team (architecture), rgb (lighting), filmtec (media planning) and Amanda Holmes (photographer).
The project management was handled by Claudius Colsman, head of VW Event & Sponsoring, together with Ilka Loeper as team head.
