BONDAL® von ThyssenKrupp Steel ist so ein Material und es sorgt dafür, dass Nutzfahrzeugmotoren deutlich weniger Lärm produzieren. Der Verbundwerkstoff ist wie ein Sandwich aufgebaut. Zwischen zwei 0,4 bis 1,25 Millimeter dünnen Stahlblechen liegt eine nur fünf Hundertstel Millimeter dünne Kunststoffschicht. Versetzen Schallwellen den Verbund in Schwingungen, wird die Schwingungsenergie in Wärme umgewandelt. Um bis zu 20 Dezibel lässt sich Körperschall mit BONDAL® verringern. Im Automobilbau wird das Material hauptsächlich im Antriebsstrang eingesetzt, zum Beispiel für Getriebedeckel, Ölwannen und Zahnriemenabdeckungen.
