Mit zahlreichen Maßnahmen hat ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe die Anlagen am Standort Bochum umfassend modernisiert. Diese erhöhen die Effizienz der Anlagen und verbessern weiter die Qualität der hier gefertigten Stahlprodukte. So ist unter anderem in die Optimierung des Walzprozesses investiert worden. Durch diese Verbesserungen können die hohen Ansprüche der Kunden bezüglich flacher Profile befriedigt werden. Die Kühlstrecke ist technisch auf den neuesten Stand gebracht und auf eine so genannte Laminarkühlung umgebaut worden. Ziel der Maßnahme ist eine Erweiterung der Produktionsmöglichkeiten für höher- und höchstfeste Stähle. Im Kaltbandwerk ist eine Ertüchtigung der Kontibeize erfolgt, um die Oberfläche der hier erzeugten Produkte zu
