Aktuell steht der Kunde bei der Wahl des passenden Internet-Zugangs vor einem Angebots-Dschungel von mindestens 8 verschiedenen Zugangstechnologien, mehr als 270 Anbietern und wiederum mehreren tausend Produkten. Nach einer Untersuchung der Forschungsgruppe Wahlen nutzen etwa die Hälfte aller Deutschen schnelle Breitbandzugänge, während 30 % mit einem ISDN-Anschluss und 20 % mittels analogem Modem online gehen. Eine aktuelle Leserbefragung des Onlinemagazins teltarif.de ergab hingegen, dass in dieser überaus TK-interessierten Zielgruppe bereits mehr als 70 % einen Breitbandanschluss nutzen, ISDN wird nur noch von fünf Prozent der Nutzer, das analoge Modem von 11 % genutzt.
