VERITAS Software liefert Technologie für offene Volume-Management-Schnittstelle

VERITAS Software (Nasdaq: VRTS), der führende Hersteller von Storage Software, und eine Reihe weiterer Mitglieder der Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) entwickeln eine standardisierte Schnittstelle für Host-basiertes Volume Management. Sie soll in kommende Versionen der Storage-Management-Interface-Spezifikation SMIS integriert werden, die die Implementierung und Verwaltung heterogener Speichernetze vereinfacht. Die offene Schnittstelle liefert ein Modell für Block-basierte Virtualisierung auf Host- und Betriebssystemebene und kann von beliebigen Management Tools angesteuert werden, ohne dass zuvor Application Programming Interfaces, kurz APIs, integriert werden müssen. Die Technologie für die Schnittstelle liefert VERITAS Volume Manager, die führende Software für Speicherverwaltung und Virtualisierung.
