Der deutsche Areca-Distributor Starline liefert mit dem Areca ARC-1170 RAID-Level 6 Controller für 24x SATA-II Festplatten einen hoch-performanten RAID-Controller für den PCI-X Bus aus.

Der ARC-1170 zeichnet sich durch einfache Installation/Administration, hohe Geschwindigkeit und stabilen Betrieb aus. Durch die Verwendung des RAID-Levels 6 können bis zu 2 Festplatten zeitgleich ausfallen, ohne dass die Daten verloren gehen.

Mit der Möglichkeit 24x SATA-II Festplatten anzuschließen und beispielsweise 24x 500GB SATA-II Festplatten können Kapazitäten bis zu 11,5TB bei RAID-Level 5 oder 11TB bei RAID-Level 6 an einem einzigen ARC-1170 realisiert werden. Somit bietet sich der ARC-1170 insbesondere für speicherhungrige Systeme an.
