GRID-Symposium für Forschung und Industrie

Am 11. März 2005 öffnet SRH Fachhochschule Heidelberg Pforten für Austausch zu optimalem Einsatz von IT-Ressourcen

GRID-Computing schließt ungenutzte Kapazitäten einzelner Rechner zusammen und schafft dadurch ein kostengünstiges, virtuelles System von hoher Leistungskraft. Das Heidelberger Symposium zu "GRID-Computing" bringt Vertreter aus Industrie und Wissenschaft zusammen und präsentiert aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse sowie geplante Forschungsrichtungen. Hermann Beschinsky, IBM Deutschland, wird darüber referieren, wie Produktentwicklungszyklen durch die GRID-Kompetenznetzwerke verkürzt werden können. Für das Forschungszentrum Jülich stellt Mathilde Romberg zwei Projekte vor: Zum einen UNICORE, ein vertikal integriertes GRID-System, das unter Förderung des Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung sowie der EU entwickelt wurde. Zum anderen wird der Einsatz von GRID am Beispiel der Arzneimittelforschung illustriert.
