Die smartGAS Mikrosensorik GmbH bringt jetzt einen neuen Sensor auf den Markt, der Schwefeldioxid (SO2) in einem Konzentrationsbereich von 0 bis 2.000 ppm sicher messen kann. SO2 ist ein giftiges Gas, das bei der Verbrennung schwefelhaltiger Brennstoffe entsteht und unter anderem für den so genannten "sauren Regen" verantwortlich ist. In den letzten Jahrzehnten konnte der SO2-Ausstoß in die Atmosphäre durch die Verwendung schwefelarmer Brennstoffe und den Einbau von Rauchgasentschwefelungsanlagen in Kraftwerken deutlich reduziert werden. Einer der größten Emittenten von SO2 ist heute die Schifffahrt, da hier immer noch vergleichsweise schwefelhaltige Brennstoffe verwendet werden. Der neue Sensor lässt sich beispielsweise einsetzen,
