Seine Produktlinie Simatic Embedded Automation erweitert die Siemens-Division Industry Automation mit dem modularen Controller Simatic S7-mEC. Das neue Produkt ist besonders robust und leistungsfähig, zudem zeichnet es sich durch Offenheit und hohe Modularität aus. Simatic S7-mEC integriert Steuerungs-, HMI- und PCFunktionalität in einem Gerät. Der neue Embedded-Controller wird wie ein Standard- Simatic-S7-300-Controller projektiert und in Betrieb genommen.

Simatic S7-mEC ist mit neuester PC-Technologie ausgestattet, zum Beispiel mit Intel- Core-Duo-Prozessor. Das neue Gerät entspricht in Design, Robustheit und Modularität einem Simatic-S7-300-Controller und ist über Standard-S7-300-I/O-Peripherie sowie PC-Schnittstellen erweiterbar. Wie alle Simatic-Controller wird auch der neue Embedded-Controller mit Simatic Step 7 projektiert
