RWE Energy hat mit der in Hamburg ansässigen ExxonMobil Central Europe Holding GmbH einen Vertrag zur Übernahme des deutschen Nah- und Fernwärmegeschäfts der ExxonMobil unterzeichnet. Dies beinhaltet auch sämtliche Geschäftsanteile der Favorit Unternehmens-Verwaltungs-GmbH (Favorit), die bislang von der ESSO Deutschland GmbH gehalten werden. Die Übernahme bedarf noch der Genehmigung des Bundeskartellamts. Alle anderen Geschäftsbereiche ExxonMobils in Deutschland sind von diesem Verkauf nicht berührt.

Favorit betreibt das Nah- und Fernwärmegeschäft der ExxonMobil in Deutschland. Favorit erzielte im Jahr 2007 mit mehr als 120 Mitarbeitern einen Umsatz von rund 80 Mio. Euro und lieferte an 70.000 Kunden 1.000 GWh Wärme. Schwerpunkte des
