PhotoModeler Scanner ermöglicht die Modellierung von Objektoberflächen über dichte Punktwolken ("Dense Surface Modeling" DSM). Das Programm entspricht einem 3D-Laserscanner - jedoch mit einer Digitalkamera anstelle des Lasers. Und dies zu einem äußerst günstigen Preis.

Während 3D-Objekte und -Szenen bisher über Einzel-Messpunkte und Konturen rekonstruiert werden konnten, lassen sich mit PhotoModeler Scanner nun zusätzlich genaue und detaillierte Gitternetze für eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen berechnen. Ein weiterer wichtiger Vorteil: Im Gegensatz zu teuren 3D-Scannern können mit PhotoModeler Scanner auch Objekte mit stark unterschiedlichen Abmessungen erfasst werden (- Gesichter - Fahrzeuge - Gebäude -).
