OSRAM Opto Semiconductors zeigt auf der Laser Messe 2007 World of Photonics (18. bis 21. Juni, Neue Messe München) den weltweit kleinsten und ersten oberflächenmontierbaren (SMT) High-Power-Laser für den cw-Betrieb. Staubdicht, leistungsstark und preiswert empfiehlt der Laser sich für Volumenanwendungen in der Industrie, im Automobilbereich und in der Medizin.

Der 2,5 mm hohe Laserwinzling hat eine Grundfläche von nur 6,0 x 4,5 mm². In seinem staubdichten, elektrisch isolierten Gehäuse überzeugt er mit einem geringen thermischen Widerstand von nur 2,5 K/W. Ausgelegt ist der kleine Strahlemann für eine Lichtleistung bis zu 6 W. Er emittiert bei 810 nm Wellenlänge.
