Fine tuning for white

Narrow tolerances, high CRI and better color homogeneity

(PresseBox) (Regensburg, ) OSRAM is now offering its warm white and neutral white high-power LEDs with even better quality of light. The lighting specialist is defining the color coordinates for different sorting grades (binning) within very narrow tolerances. The LEDs have a typical color rendering index (CRI) of more than 80 and now have improved angle homogeneity even with volume casting. It is therefore easier and more cost-effective to achieve homogenous illumination even in demanding lighting situations.

Homogenous light colors need narrow tolerances. OSRAM has therefore refined its production and selection procedures for its Power TopLED, Advanced Power TopLED and DRAGON high-power LEDs. Precisely defined color coordinates ensure that different LEDs within one white group reliably emit the same homogenous white light – with no visible color deviations. LED of one particular bin can be used in lighting applications without the need for further checks. Even in critical applications such as diffused light sources or tightly packed light sources they meet stringent requirements in terms of homogeneity. The white tone of an LED is within a range that typically corresponds to a 3-step McAdams Ellipse.

Homogenous even with volume casting
The color homogeneity of volume casted Power TopLEDs has beed improved over the viewing angle. Up to now, these LEDs appeared to have a slightly different white tone when viewed from different angles. Even this high-power LEDs now emit white light that appears homogenous whatever the viewing angle.
All the high-power LEDs have a high color rendering index (CRI) in excess of 80. This enables the realisation of high-quality lighting solutions that offer natural color rendering. High-quality lighting solutions are therefore much easier to create and are more cost-effective.
