Die Linux Foundation ist ein Non-Profit-Konsortium, das sich die Aufgabe gestellt hat, das Wachstum von Linux zu befördern. Es wurde im Jahre 2007 gegründet und unterstützt seitdem die Arbeit des Linux-Gründers Linus Torvalds, wobei es von führenden Linux- und Open-Source-Firmen und -Entwicklern von überall in der Welt unterstützt wird. Die Linux Foundation treibt Linux voran und schützt sowie standardisiert es durch wichtige Arbeitsgruppen, Veranstaltungen und Online-Ressourcen wie z.B. Linux.com (http://www.linux.com).
