Die Online-Archivierung gehört zu den modernen Konzepten, um die Organisationsverhältnisse schlanker zu gestalten. Durch die Online-Archivierung entfällt der Investitionsaufwand für ein eigenes Dokumentenmanagementsystem (DMS), und es werden keine fachlichen Kenntnisse für die Betreuung der Anwendung benötigt. Ein Online-Archiv bietet viele Einsatzmöglichkeiten für die Speicherung von Finanz-, Vertriebs-, Personal- oder anderen Daten und Dokumenten mit sekundenschnellem Zugriff. Die Mitarbeiter können mittels Browser flexibel überall und jederzeit darauf zugreifen.
