Die OPTIMAL SYSTEMS GmbH (OS) kündigt an, noch im laufenden Jahr 2003 die eigene Technologieplattform OS:4.x auch auf LINUX zu portieren - zunächst für Red Hat und SuSE/Linux. Dabei wird neben dem Applikationsserver auch die Workflowengine auf der Linux-Plattform verfügbar sein. In einem zweiten Schritt werden dann weitere Serverplattformen ebenfalls portiert. Als im Sommer 2002 Bundesinnenminister Otto Schily einen weitreichenden Kooperationsvertrag mit IBM über die Förderung von offenen Computerbetriebssystemen und Software in der öffentlichen Verwaltung Deutschlands unterzeichnet habt, beschloss die Geschäftsführung des Berliner Softwareherstellers diesem Signal zu folgen und die eigenen Softwareprodukte für Linux verfügbar zu machen.
