Hossein Moiin to join Nokia Siemens Networks as CTO

The new role of CTO was created by Nokia Siemens Networks following the reorganization it announced in November 2009 and the elimination of the role of chief operating officer from January 2010. The CTO will be responsible for developing and advocating the company's technology strategy and longterm views on network architecture. Moiin and his teams will lead the company's research and innovation to anticipate the needs of the world's leading communications service providers.

"Today our industry has transformed the lives of billions of people by enabling them to communicate with the world at large for the very first time. Nokia Siemens Networks is playing a key role in this social and technical transformation and I hope to be able to guide the company in a direction that will benefit the largest number of people and organisations."
Moiin has worked in Europe, Asia, and the United States during his career. Prior to working for BT, Moiin held positions with T-Mobile including group vice president for Technical Strategy and chief architect. Moiin was also chief technologist for the Network Service Provider Group at Sun Microsystems where he spent several years in a variety of management and development roles.
As an active consultant, he is or has been a board member of technology companies, including currently Ruckus Wireless; has been an investment advisor to top venture firms; and has been a strategy advisor to a variety of technology companies in Europe, Israel, and the USA. It is expected that, subsequent to board approval, Moiin will continue in his role as a board member of Ruckus Wireless.
Moiin has a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of California and is married with two children. He holds both Iranian and Italian citizenship and is moving to Finland to be based out of the company's headquarters in Espoo.
