Für die Anbindung lokaler Standorte haben sich im Bereich der Weitverkehrsnetze CWDM-Systeme (Coarse Wavelength Devision Multiplexing) für die optimale Nutzung der Glasfaser-Strecken durchgesetzt. Zur effizienten Auslastung der CWDM-Kanäle bietet MICROSENS jetzt ein neues Gigabit Ethernet TDM-Modul (Time Division Multiplexing) an, mit dem sich Übertragungskapazitäten für Gigabit Ethernet einfach verdoppeln lassen.

Die CWDM-Technologie unterstützt typische Datenraten von bis zu 2,7 Gbit/s pro Kanal. In den Bereichen Storage (Double rate Fibre Channel, 2,13 GBit/s) und Telekommunikation (SDH, 2,448 Gbit/s) werden diese möglichen Übertragungsgeschwindigkeiten bereits optimal genutzt. Im Datenbereich ergibt sich bei der Übertragung von Gigabit Ethernet (1,25 Gbit/s) dagegen eine Lücke.
