Neuer Supercomputer aus Chemnitz an der Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg - Performancetest zeigt Weltklasse

Das Chemnitzer Unternehmen MEGWARE hat die Installation ihres Supercomputers an der Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg abgeschlossen. Er wurde innerhalb weniger Wochen konstruiert, produziert und getestet. Nach dem Transport und Wiederaufbau in der Heidelberger Universität wurden sofort nach der symbolischen Schlüsselübergabe die ersten Performancetests absolviert.Die Heidelberger Universität nimmt in Europa einen führenden Platz im Bereich der Forschung zu Hochleistungsrechnern ein. Der neue Supercomputer ist im IWR (Interdisziplinäres Zentrum für wissenschaftliches Rechnen) installiert und besteht aus 512 AMD Athlon(TM) MP Prozessoren 1600+ mit 1,4 GHz Taktfrequenz in 256 Knoten und einem Hauptspeicher von 256 GigaByte. Die Rechner sind untereinander mittels Hochgeschwindigkeitsnetzwerk Myrinet 2000 nbwswowro.
