Major progress in reorganisation of premium coach production at NEOPLAN

München, (PresseBox) - .
- MAN Nutzfahrzeuge to concentrate production of NEOPLAN buses and coaches in Plauen in future
- NEOPLAN management and works council agree on main points for future of Pilsting
- VISEON Bus GmbH founded as independent company and future MAN partner

Following MAN Nutzfahrzeuge's announcement of its plans to concentrate production of NEOPLAN premium coaches in Plauen in future and to produce individual bus solutions in partnership with an external company, agreement has now been reached on the main points of the reorganisation.

A paper containing the main points was signed at negotiations between NEOPLAN Bus GmbH and the company's works council on satisfaction of interests and a social compensation plan. Under this agreement NEOPLAN will continue to operate the plant until mid-2009. The workforce shall be reduced to approx. 200 persons. In a partnership with the newly founded company VISEON Bus GmbH MAN will restructure the plant as a production facility for special buses under the management of former NEOPLAN CEO Joachim Reinmuth. In the start-up phase MAN will support the newly founded company VISEON financially by acquiring a minority holding.

The plans also envisage that the 200 employees left at the location will be taken over by the new company by mid-2009 and in future build specialised buses and complete special orders for MAN and other customers and that VISEON will later manufacture products of its own. All employees who will not be retained at the location and do not accept job offers from MAN (mainly at the Munich plant) will receive benefits under the social compensation plan.

In future the NEOPLAN Starliner and Cityliner coaches and the scheduled-service double-deckers will be built at Plauen. VISEON Bus GmbH will produce trolley-buses, airport buses and other special-purpose vehicles and take on orders for conversions and fitting out. As a next step VISEON Bus GmbH intends to produce bus models under its own brand name. These developments are a further major milestone in the realisation of the industrial concept for restructuring the Bus Division of the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group.
