"Mit dem Mikroskop die Welt erkunden", so heißt das diesjährige Motto des Girls' Day am INM - Leibniz-Institut für Neue Materialien. An diesem Tag können Schülerinnen der Klassenstufe fünf bis neun selbst mitgebrachten Dingen auf den Grund gehen. Sie untersuchen zum Beispiel Blätter, Münzen, Haare, Nussschalen, Watte oder andere Dinge des Alltags. An verschiedenen Mikroskopen erforschen sie grobe Strukturen, die noch mit bloßem Auge zu erkennen sind, und schauen bis in winzige Dimensionen, die ihnen nur das Rasterelektronenmikroskop eröffnen kann. Mit einem speziellen Mikroskop können sie ihre Materialien dreidimensional abbilden.
