Innovative photonische Komponenten durch Plasmonik

In einem neuen EU-Forschungsprojekt am Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) werden innovative nanophotonische Komponenten entwickelt. Die Systeme bestehen aus Nanostrukturen, die mittels Polymere auf Metalle aufgebracht werden. Das Besondere an diesen Strukturen ist, dass sie sowohl elektronische wie auch optische Signale weiterleiten können. Beispielsweise soll künftig auf einem Chip gleichzeitig elektronische und optische Datenverarbeitung möglich sein.

Die photonische Komponenten nützen das Phänomen der so genannte Oberflächenplasmonen, elektromagnetische Wellen, die sich an metallischen Oberflächen entlang ausbreiten und an die Grenzfläche zwischen einer dünnen Metall- und einer Polymerschicht gebunden sind. Mit den entsprechenden Nanostrukturen ist es möglich, optische Signale zu leiten und dt kqakgnldiiq.
