KPN Group Belgium announces its results for the third quarter 2011

Underlying wireless service revenues up 11% year-on-year in Q3 / Q3 underlying EBITDA margin of 34.8% / Accelerated roll-out of high speed data network ongoing

Brussel, (PresseBox) - KPN in Belgium publishes today its results for the third quarter of 2011. Underlying Revenues and other income increase to EUR 198 million vs EUR 180 million in Q3 2010 (+10%). The underlying EBITDA margin amounts to 34.8% in Q3 2011.

Financial details

During the third quarter of 2011, underlying revenues and other income of KPN in Belgium increased by 10% compared to Q3 2010. This increase is due to the strong regional focus with an increasing number of shops, the good performance of the simplified BASE product portfolio and a good take-up of flat fee data bundles. KPN in Belgium reached a market share of approximately 19%*. Underlying EBITDA in Belgium is up 9.5% y-on-y in Q3 2011 (from EUR 63 million in Q3 2010 to EUR 69 million in Q3 2011). The underlying EBITDA margin of 34.8% has been realized due to targeted growth and improved cost consciousness.

Operational highlights

At the end of Q3 2011, the number of postpaid customers increased by 11.347 net adds. The number of prepaid customers showed a net increase of 151.797 subscribers.

Other developments

KPN Group Belgium continues to offer commercial high speed mobile data services in most of the major and intermediate cities. The accelerated network roll-out is ongoing in all Belgian regions.

In Q3, KPN Group Belgium launched two new rate packages focusing on specific segments: BASE Check for the youth and BASE C offering a flexible solution for customers (prepaid and postpaid. Together with its partner RTL, KPN Group Belgium launched Contact Mobile with special focus on Wallonia.
