The Forzani Group Rolls Out JDA Portfolio Store Solution in Record Time
Canada’s Largest Sporting Goods Retailer Creates Operational Platform
The retailer also plans to implement Portfolio Allocation and Replenishment™, Portfolio Planning and Forecasting™, Portfolio Business Intelligence™, Portfolio Revenue Management™ and Portfolio Customer Relationship™ software applications to more efficiently manage its comprehensive assortment of over 50,000 brand-name and private-label products.
According to Debbie Gillis, Forzani’s CIO, “Our legacy systems didn’t provide the necessary application infrastructure to enable IT to respond quickly to the needs of the business. With our current Portfolio implementation, we now have the infrastructure to be responsive to business needs and have the basis for providing the stores with the tools that they need to increase sales and productivity.”
Gillis says the success of the project was due to the teamwork, focus and positive attitude of both the Forzani implementation team and JDA’s Client Solutions professionals. “A project of this magnitude requires driven, well-organized teams who embrace a common vision. The JDA and Forzani implementation team worked very hard to complete the project in record time and we are very pleased with the results. In addition, a dedicated quality assurance team ensured that the roll-out would not be compromised by any unforeseen issues.”

Forzani Achieves Early Success; Continues Broad Reaching Implementation
According to Gillis, the successful completion of the first phase of its Portfolio implementation has resulted in key bottom-line benefits. “We are using Win/DSS to assess loss prevention issues and have noticed a significant reduction in unauthorized markdowns since implementing JDA’s solution. By simplifying store operations, Win/DSS has empowered our associates and improved customer throughput at the point-of-sale,” states Gillis.

The next phase will involve rolling-out additional Portfolio Merchandising modules to better track fast-selling items and capture relevant store-to-head office information that will be used to improve chain-wide performance.
