EasyTRA - new software makes it easy to model exposure scenarios for REACH compliance

(PresseBox) (Solingen, )
The REACH regulations have meant a lot of work for chemical companies. To help them in this, software developer Jansen-Systems offers EasyTRA, a reliable, practical tool for modeling complex exposure scenarios. A new function now automatically creates the appendix to the Safety Data Sheet, making it easier for customers to comply with the requirements of REACH.

Is the exposure to a substance safe for employees, consumers and the environment? An extended Safety Data Sheet (eSDS) must be produced for all REACH-registered substances, containing an appendix with details of all safe applications. EasyTRA, developed by Jansen-Systems, is the first software application that enables chemical companies to produce these appendices automatically. It can also produce chapters nine and ten (exposure scenarios and risk characterization) of the Chemical Safety Report as required for REACH registration automatically, using the input data.

EasyTRA works out the human health and environmental risk associated with the use of a specific substance. The assessment is based on available substance data and a given set of assumptions about the level of exposure, as stipulated in the REACH regulations. The software is easy to use, and is based on a step-by-step process known as Targeted Risk Assessment (TRA). Starting from the very restrictive set of standard assumptions about the level of exposure, the specific circumstances can be adjusted in a series of steps so that the results correspond much more closely to actual exposure situations.

EasyTRA documents every step in the TRA report (standard assumptions, input values, algorithms used), and allows a virtually unlimited number of exposure scenarios to be modeled simultaneously. Despite this, the application is significantly faster than other solutions, thanks to its highly efficient data import (IUCLID 5, Excel) and data export (IUCLID 5) mechanisms. As a result, EasyTRA is not only the most powerful tool available to assist in the creation and modeling of exposure scenarios for REACH compliance, it is currently the only one to offer the full set of functionalities required.

"We saw that the existing tools on the market weren't up to the job, and this was creating difficulties for chemical companies," says Matthias Jansen, CEO of Jansen-Systems. "EasyTRA makes our customers' job much easier, and is already being used successfully by leading chemical companies. Since it was launched in April 2010, we have constantly expanded and improved the software, drawing on our customers' experiences of working with the system to develop it further. In addition to the comprehensive handbook, we will also shortly start offering tutorials on the most important functions of EasyTRA, streamed over the web."

Licensed EasyTRA users can activate the additional SDS function in English using their current license key. For more information, and to download a free demo version, visit www.easytra.com.
