Basis für diese intelligenten Energienetze sind moderne ITK-Technologien. Netzstrukturen werden dadurch noch komplexer und Ausfälle, Überwachung oder Zusammenbrüche werden wahrscheinlicher. Gleichzeitig steigt die Variantenvielfalt von elektronischen Endgeräten für Privatnutzer oder Unternehmen, die Daten für smart grids liefern oder senden.
