Der Intevation-Förderpreis für Freie Software an der Universität Osnabrück wurde am 15. Februar 2008 an Stefan Stiene verliehen

Im Rahmen des BMBF-geförderten Projektes LISA ("Assistenzroboter in Laboren von Life-Science-Unternehmen") hat Herr Stiene eine Freie Software entwickelt, die in Verbindung mit der Freien Simulationsumgebung "USARSim"und dem Software-Entwicklungswerkzeug "Player" ermöglicht, Robotersteuerungssoftware zu entwickeln und zu testen.

USARSim und Player sind beides Freie Software Systeme, die weltweit (bisher meist unabhängig voneinander) in der Roboter-Forschung im Einsatz sind. Die Lösung von Herrn Stiene ist ein Beitrag diese beiden Welten zu verbinden und damit die Stellung Freier Software im Bereich der Roboter-Forschung zu stärken.
