Intel verkündet Details zur dritten Generation der Intel® Xeon Phi™ Prozessoren

Auf der diesjährigen Supercomputing Conference (SC14) in New Orleans gab Intel Details über neue Technologien im Bereich High-Performance Computing (HPC) bekannt: Die kommende dritte Generation von Intel® Xeon Phi® Prozessoren (Codename "Knights Hill") wird im 10nm-Verfahren gefertigt werden und die Intel® Omni-Path Fabric Architektur beinhalten. Die neue Technologie ermöglicht eine Geschwindigkeit von 100 Gigabit pro Sekunde sowie eine um bis zu 56 Prozent niedrigere Latenzzeit im Vergleich zu InfiniBand-basierten Clustern.

Laut der aktuellen Top 500-Liste der leistungsfähigsten Supercomputer der Welt basieren mittlerweile 86 Prozent aller gelisteten Computer sowie 97 Prozent aller neu hinzugekommenen Systeme auf Intel® Technologie.
