Der Schulversuch Duale Berufsausbildung mit Abitur in Sachsen (DuBAS) startet mit Beginn des Ausbildungsjahres 2013/2014 auch in Südwestsachsen. Der Bildungsgang, der Berufsschule und Berufliches Gymnasium miteinander verbindet, dauert vier Jahre und schließt jeweils mit der IHK Ausbildungsprüfung und der Abiturprüfung am Beruflichen Gymnasium ab.

Das Projekt DuBAS begann in Sachsen bereits mit dem Schuljahres 2011/2012 für künftige Fachinformatiker und IT-Systemelektroniker in Dresden sowie für künftige Industrie-, Werkzeug- und Zerspanungsmechaniker in Leipzig. Ab diesem Schuljahr wird das Modell auch in den BSZ für Technik II Handwerkerschule und BSZ für Technik III Richard-Hartmann-Schule in Chemnitz in den Berufen Industriemechaniker und Zerspanungsmechaniker durchgeführt.
