Das Handwerk ist wichtiger Partner, wenn es darum geht, Wohnungen, Kommunen und Lebensumfelder barrierefrei zu gestalten. Handwerk kann mit vielfältigen Möglichkeiten dafür sorgen, dass Menschen möglichst lange selbstbestimmt in ihrer Wohnung bleiben können und notwendige Hilfen bereit gestellt werden. Barrierefreie Bäder, elektrische Helfer, Geländer und Rampen, Farbgestaltung zur Orientierung, Rauchmelder und Sicherheitssysteme machen im eigenen Umfeld vieles leichter und bequemer. Manche Maßnahmen werden sogar finanziell unterstützt. Auch Kommunen nutzen die Kompetenz des Handwerks bei der Gestaltung öffentlicher Gebäude und der Sicherung der Teilhabe aller.
