5-axis HSC machining centre

More power and better efficiency with the UBZ HP

(PresseBox) (Baienfurt, )
To meet the demands of its customers, Handtmann A-Punkt Automation redesigned its concept of the universal machining centre completely. After ten years, the innovative UBZ HP of the HSC specialist replaces its previous model UBZ NT, to machine diverse materials from composites up to titanium even more effectively and more efficiently.

The new Handtmann 5-axis universal machining centre UBZ HP stands out for its high material removal rates, outstanding precision, extremely high-precision surfaces and maximum flexibility for high speed cutting. Due to electronically prestressed drives, the UBZ HP reaches now considerably higher axis speeds up to 60 m/min in all axis and accelerations up to 5 m/s². The increased dynamics lead to a perceptible reduction in machining time leading to extreme cost savings. Furthermore the 5-axis HSC machining centre guarantees highest accuracy and highest material removal rates at optimal surface quality. Those parameters are reached due to the improved machine stiffness and optimisation of fundamental machine components. To achieve this For that reason the designers have used the Handtmann Multi-Component-System for the first-time.

A new machine housing with extensive and puncture-proof safety glass offers a good view into the machining room. In addition, a newly developed loading zone offers improved ergonomics and very good loading possibilities from two sides and from top. The excellent damping in the machine components leads to improved tool life and thus complements the new concept of the UBZ HP even further.

The product line UBZ stands out for its modular machine design. With a fixed portal and a moving table, the machine constructor has met with exactly the demands of the customers. Handtmann offers two models of the UBZ HP: to machine composites and aluminium and to machine steel and titanium, the machines are equipped with different milling heads and spindles. Also there is a possibility, to build the UBZ HP with a table length up to ten meters to offer the user maximum flexibility in machining his parts.

The Russian company MIG Russian Aircraft Corporation already ordered two innovative UBZ HP. Those will be delivered in the beginning of 2009. On their machining centres, MIG will machine diverse structural parts for its aircrafts.

Advantages at a glance:
- Maximum flexibility, highest material removal rates and best precision for an optimum surface quality
- Spindle, milling head and table configuration according to customers' needs
- Automatic Tool Changer (ATC)
- Vacuum clamping systems and evacuation units, optional
- Excellent loading possibilities from two sides and from top
- Much lesser machining times due to enhanced dynamics
- Table sizes up to 10.000 x 2.000 mm (LxW)
- Highest safety standards due to a complete machine housing
