Atmosphärenforschung im Wandel: Das Observatorium Hohenpeißenberg 1781 und heute

Seit nunmehr 230 Jahren wird am Observatorium Hohenpeißenberg kontinuierlich gemessen und beobachtet. Die langen Klimareihen erlauben es, aktuelle Trends in Beziehung zur Vergangenheit zu setzen. Seit mehreren Jahrzehnten werden zusätzlich luftchemische Untersuchungen vorgenommen: Durch das umfangreiche Ozonmessprogramm konnte die Trendentwicklung von Ozon bis in 50 km Höhe verfolgt und vor der ansteigenden UV-Strahlung gewarnt werden, die mit der gemessenen Ozonabnahme einherging. Seit rund 15 Jahren werden im Rahmen des Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) -Programms umfangreiche Messungen von reaktiven Spurengasen, Aerosol und der Niederschlagschemie durchgeführt, die für das Klima relevant sind und von denen aktuelle Ergebnisse - u.a. vom Island-Vulkan -
