Mediabudgets auf soziodemografischen Zielgruppenmerkmalen zu planen, ist für viele Einsatzbereiche und Branchen zu teuer und zu unpräzise. Denn Adressat der Werbung ist meist nicht der Nutzungsaffine, sondern der Kaufentscheider. Genau diese Zielgruppe der Käufer wird nun regionalisiert abgebildet in der neuen Studie t.o.m. regio.

Die entscheidende Dimension der Zielgruppenlokalisierung erschließen die jetzt erstmalig verfügbaren GfK Käuferzielgruppen (genannt t.o.m. regio), die bis auf feinste regionale Ebene zeigen, wo die Käufer eines Produktes wohnen.

Bislang erfolgte die Planung bei werbetreibende Unternehmen oder deren Mediaagenturen anhand der soziodemografischen Beschreibung von Zielgruppen - etwa mittleres Alter, hohe Kaufkraft, Haushalte mit Kindern.
