"Potenziale der Chemie für mehr Energieeffizienz" stellt das Anfang April 2007 erschienene Sonderheft "Nachrichten aus der GDCh-Energieinitiative" der Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) vor. Die Beiträge, hervorgegangen aus einem Workshop Ende letzten Jahres in Berlin, zeigen die Bedeutung der Chemie für die Energieumwandlung - oft als Energieerzeugung bezeichnet -, die Energiespeicherung, die Energiebereitstellung und die Energieeinsparung auf. Themen sind Brennstoffzellen und Batterien, Wasserstoffwirtschaft und Wasserstoffspeicher, Solarzellen oder Nachwachsende Rohstoffe und ihr energetischer Nutzen. Gezeigt wird auch, wie Energie in Industrie, Handwerk und privatem Bereich, beispielsweise beim Lackieren, eingespart oder in der chemischen Industrie, z.B. durch Ökoeffizienz-Analysen, neue Verfahren oder moderne Prozessanalytik,
