Prof. Sheldrick entwickelt Software-Paket zur Bestimmung kristalliner Strukturen in Molekülen

Der Göttinger Chemiker Prof. Dr. George M. Sheldrick wird von der Schwedischen Akademie der Wissenschaften für seine Entwicklungen auf dem Gebiet der Strukturchemie mit dem renommierten "Aminoff Prize in crystallography 2009" ausgezeichnet. Der Wissenschaftler vom Institut für Anorganische Chemie der Georg-August- Universität hat das Software-Paket SHELX zur Bestimmung kristalliner Strukturen entwickelt; es steht Forschern in aller Welt zur Verfügung und kann von der Mineralogie bis zur Molekularen Medizin eingesetzt werden. Prof. Sheldrick erhält den mit insgesamt 100.000 Schwedischen Kronen dotierten Preis gemeinsam mit einem Wissenschaftler aus Cambridge (Großbritannien). Die Auszeichnung wird Ende März kommenden Jahres in Stockholm verliehen.
