Wittgenstein-Preise 2012 an den Computerwissenschafter Thomas A. Henzinger und an den Chemiker Niyazi Serdar Sariciftci

Wissenschafts- und Forschungsminister Karlheinz Toechterle und FWF-Praesident Christoph Kratky gaben heute im Rahmen einer gemeinsamen Pressekonferenz die diesjaehrigen Wittgenstein- Preistraeger sowie die sieben neu in das START-Programm aufgenommenen NachwuchswissenschafterInnen bekannt. Insgesamt werden in den kommenden fuenf bzw. sechs Jahren den neun ForscherInnen rund 11,5 Mio. EUR fuer ihre wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten zur Verfuegung stehen.

Die Wittgenstein-Preise 2012 gehen an Thomas A. Henzinger, Praesident des IST Austria und an Niyazi Serdar Sariciftci, Professor fuer Physikalische Chemie an der Johannes Kepler Universitaet Linz. Der Wittgenstein-Preis ist Oesterreichs hoechstdotierter und prestigetraechtigster Wissenschaftspreis, der seit 1996 durch den FWF vergeben wird.
