Fischer Panda gears Solarwave Hybrid Catamaran for trip around the world

Around the world trip using only solar power is the goal for the Solarwave team in 2010. Extreme adventurers Michael Köhler und Heike Patzelt from Austria will attempt to navigate a round trip on the world's oceans without sails or diesel engine. Through this they seek to bring attention to the sun - not as an "alternative energy" but as a primary energy source and particularly that the technology already exists. During this voyage they will evaluate and test alternative energy systems for propulsion and onboard power. The two-man team will attempt to live autonomously for more than one year. They plan to be able to generate enough power to freeze, cook, produce water and even power a washing machine!

Even with such a challenging goal, the team's safety is still the highest priority.

The Solarwave team will be taking a Fischer Panda 4000/48V battery charger generator onboard so that in the 'worst case scenario' power is available for emergency systems and the team's safety assured. Fischer Panda's AGT generators have already been proved under harsh conditions operating onboard vessels of the Royal Navy Lifeboat Institution. The AGT generator is a perfect generator to support solar and wind based applications which use battery banks for storing their accumulated energy.

Fischer Panda has always been at the forefront of new energy ideas for the marine industry, both commercial and recreational. Not only in the marine world, but also commercial off-grid applications are looking to Fischer Panda for powerful battery charging solutions to support solar and wind systems.

Fischer Panda GmbH is manufacturer of Diesel generators, hybrid and drive systems for mobile naval and vehicle applications. The generators are well-known for their compact design and the extremely low noises during the operation. The Fischer Panda team covers world-wide more than 400 technicians and salesmen in over 70 countries.

The catamaran, the crew, as well as Fischer Panda, will be present at the exhibition boat 2010 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
