Biologische Filter sparen Platz bei der Abwasserreinigung

Konventionelle Abwasserbehandlung braucht viel Platz. Die Herforder Abwasser GmbH betreibt seit etwa zehn Jahren eine biologisch intensivierte Filteranlage, die mit nur einem Hektar auskommt. "Bei der Neukonzipierung oder Erweiterung von Anlagen kommt diese Methode besonders dann in Betracht, wenn keine ausreichenden Bauflächen verfügbar sind", erklärt Gerhard Altemeier. "Im Vergleich zu der konventionellen Technik spart man etwa 75 Prozent der Fläche." Der Diplomingenieur von dem Herforder Unternehmen ist am morgigen Mittwoch (28. Mai) zu Gast in der öffentlichen Ringvorlesung "Wasser zum Leben". Die Reihe ist eine Kooperation verschiedener Fachbereiche und Institute der Fachhochschule Münster, der WWU und des Uniklinikums Münster.
