E.ON Ruhrgas wird sich noch stärker in einem Projekt zur Verflüssigung von Erdgas (LNG) im westafrikanischen Äquatorialguinea engagieren. Das Unternehmen hat eine Vereinbarung zur Entwicklung einer Gasinfrastruktur unterschrieben. Dies ist Voraussetzung für die Realisierung der geplanten zweiten LNG-Anlage in dem Land. Die Vereinbarung sieht unter anderem vor, dass ein Konsortium aus Sonagas, E.ON Ruhrgas, Union Fenosa gas und Galp Energía einen Gas-Masterplan für Äquatorialguinea mitentwickelt und somit die Kommerzialisierung der Gasreserven - insbesondere auch für künftige Exporte - im Golf von Guinea vorantreibt.
