BEIJING ESSEN WELDING & CUTTING 2019 - Focus on economic relations

It is successful and popular: China's largest trade fair in joining technology was able to register all of 3,500 visitors more than two years ago. BEIJING ESSEN WELDING & CUTTING took place in Shanghai from June 25 to 28, 2019 and aroused the enthusiasm of 28,732 visitors in total. In this respect, the German Pavilion, initiated by DVS - German Welding Society, was the largest country pavilion at the fair with 25 companies. That highlights the economic significance between China and Germany.

In total, 982 exhibitors from 76 different countries presented their innovations at Asia's most important trade fair for joining, cutting and surfacing technologies. Together with Messe Essen GmbH (the implementation company for the German joint booth), DVS Media GmbH and GSI - Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International mbH, DVS was also represented with its own booth. The DVS President Dipl.-Betriebsw. Susanne Szczesny-Oßing, Thomas Kufen (Lord Mayor of the City of Essen) as well as representatives of the Essen Economic Development Agency travelled to Shanghai in order to gain their own impressions of DVS's successful foreign fair and to deepen the economic relations. Together with the DVS General Manager Dr.-Ing. Roland Boecking and Oliver P. Kuhrt (CEO of Messe Essen), they made use of the possibility of exchanging ideas with renowned economic representatives. In this respect, discussions were primarily held at the evening with German industrial representatives as well as at the official embassy reception.

The subjects addressed on the joint booth of DVS, DVS Media, GSI and Messe Essen included "digitalisation" in particular. DVS knows about the increasing significance of digitalisation and the associated effects on today's world of work. Appropriately for this, Seabery presented its virtual welding trainer called "Soldamatic" and invited the guests at the fair to carry out virtual welding. The Soldamatic includes teaching contents from DVS Media. In this respect, the basic courses in TIG, MAG and manual electric welding are available in the Chinese language.

As an adviser for all the questions relating to training and further education subjects, Min Zhu from SLV Kunshan, a foreign company of GSI, was in situ and thus provided good support for the joint booth.

With the diverse specialist information and the intensive discussions on the German Pavilion as well as at the fair as a whole, BEIJING ESSEN WELDING & CUTTING was a great success for all the participants. As the organiser, the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES) felt vindicated with the range on offer in Shanghai. Next year, the popular trade fair will take place in the up-andcoming economic metropolis of Shenzhen, in the south of China, for the first time. Then too, DVS, DVS Media, GSI and Messe Essen will once again be represented with a joint booth.
