Erstmals auf die maximal unterstützte Größe von 16 GB RAM ausbauen lässt sich der Arbeitsspeicher der Sun Fire V240 Server mit Hilfe der neuen 4-GB-Memory-Upgrade-Kits des auf High-End-Speicher für Server und Workstations spezialisierten, unabhängigen Herstellers Dataram. Die von Sun selbst angebotenen Aufrüstsätze erlauben bis dato einen Speicherausbau lediglich bis maximal 8 GB. Neben Upgrade-Kits mit 4 GB Kapazität bietet Dataram auch solche mit 2 GB und 1 GB an. Die voll kompatiblen Speichererweiterungen, die Dataram im Rahmen eines Lizenzabkommens mit Sun entwickelt und produziert, bestehen aus je zwei identischen 133 MHz DDR CL2 DIMM-Modulen mit ECC.
