Datwyler concludes consultation process at Altdorf site

(PresseBox) ( Altdorf, )
Datwyler concluded the consultation process begun on 22 March 2011 with the staff association at the Altdorf site on 12 April 2011. In finalising the redundancy scheme, the greater part of the staff association proposals has been incorporated, yet confirming at the same time the loss of around 100 jobs. However, for already around half the em-ployees concerned specific solutions have been found. The number of actual termina-tions in the course of the next twelve months will thus be below 50, the first 15 of which are foreseen for end April 2011. All employees affected by these measures will benefit from a comprehensive redundancy scheme to the amount of CHF 2.6 million. This will focus on the reintegration of the employees concerned involving a job placement centre as well as on alleviating cases of economic hardship. The costs of this scheme are in-cluded in the one-off costs of approximately CHF 10 million. Datwyler has faith in the Canton Uri location and invests around CHF 30 Mio. in repositioning the cables site. The company is confident for the number of employees in Canton Uri to lie significantly above 900 in the mid-term despite the current cuts.
