Das für hochwertige Flash-Speicherprodukte bekannte Unternehmen SanDisk bringt eine innovative SSD-Technik auf den Markt, die ganz neue Perspektiven eröffnet: Die mit Kapazitäten von 200 und 400 GB erhältlichen ULLtraDIMM-SSDs werden wie Arbeitsspeichermodule in die DDR3-Slots des Mainboards gesteckt und so direkt an den Prozessor angebunden. Dieser Ansatz führt zu extrem kurzen Latenzzeiten von weniger als 5 Mikrosekunden beim Schreiben und 150 Mikrosekunden beim Lesen, die den Flaschenhals zwischen Speichergeräten und Systemspeicher beseitigen und es Rechenzentren ermöglichen, die ständig steigenden Performance-Anforderungen ohne umfangreiche Infrastruktur-Investitionen zu bewältigen.
