Er besitzt im Vergleich zu konventionellen Schwingkreis-Oszillatoren eine wesentlich verbesserte Stabilität gegen Umwelteinflüsse, vor allem Temperaturen. Damit kann der Schaltpunkt hin zu größeren Schaltabständen verlagert werden.
