Aktuelle Untersuchungen der Sicherheitsfirmen eMaze und ISE zeigen: Viele weit verbreitete Router-Modelle weisen dramatische Sicherheitslecks auf, darunter Geräte von Linksys, Belkin, Netgear, Sitecom und D-Link. Angreifer aus dem Internet haben dadurch leichtes Spiel.

Durch einige Lücken lassen sich Router und Netzwerke kapern. Andere wiederum ermöglichen Kriminellen, im großen Stil Schadprogramme auf angeschlossene PCs zu schleusen. Solche Lücken können dazu genutzt werden, Trojaner zum Abfangen von Kennwörtern zu übertragen und Internetverbindungen zu manipulieren - nicht nur für Online-Shopper und -Banking-Kunden ein Albtraum. Sicherheitsexperten befürchten zudem, dass Angreifer über automatisierte Internetabfragen gefährdete Geräte aufspüren, mit Bots infizieren und so unbemerkt Schadnetze einrichten yrdfkp.
