Global IT services provider CGI receives Top Employer 2012 seal of approval in Germany
In an independent survey conducted by the CRF Institute to evaluate HR best practices, CGI was rated among the best employers in Germany. In selecting CGI, the jury highlighted the company's excellent working conditions and a wide range of career opportunities. The official awards ceremony took place at a grand gala on March 8 in Düsseldorf. It was attended by Thomas Roth, Vice-President of CGI in Germany and Francoise Bockx, CGI's European HR Director. CGI is now entitled to use the CRF Institute's Top Employers Certification Seal as confirmation to potential and existing employees of its excellent qualities as an employer.
The renowned CRF Institute's Top Employer certification seal is awarded on an annual basis, with one hundred and eighteen German companies certified as Top Employers this year. Organization size is an important criterion in the shortlisting process and potential certification candidates have to employ at least 250 people in Germany or, if they operate globally, at least 1,000 employees in total with 50 of these working in Germany. With 125 offices in 16 countries, 400 employees in Germany and 31,000 worldwide, CGI easily met these criteria. In the CRF Institute's survey, CGI achieved impressive scores in all categories, receiving the highest points in the dimensions of career opportunities and training & development. CGI's results were also above average in the company culture category and it received a high score for its commitment to building a sense of community and team spirit among its employees, who are referred to as "members". CGI call all their professionals "members" to emphasize that all who join the team are invited to become company owners and shareholders through a share purchase plan. As owners, members have the opportunity to participate in the life and development of the company, and to be part of the challenges and rewards that come from building a world-class company, such as benefiting from an enterprise profit participation plan.
"We support our members' career development in every way we can," said Thomas Roth, Vice-President of CGI in Germany. "In addition to our talent management system, we offer training courses, management and specialist programs on a regular if not daily basis and they are very popular with the members." Jana Eschweiler, Lead Consultant at CGI, commented, "I'd always wanted to work for an organization with an open door policy, an informal culture, flat hierarchies and English as the company language. CGI offers us a wide range of training opportunities. In most large-scale organizations there are a lot of talented individuals who go unnoticed. That's not true here."
