Nach früheren 16-Bit FOSSIL-Funden in DOS-Treiberschichten und späteren Entdeckungen von 32-bittiger Exemplaren in Windo-Sauriern stieß das cFos-O-logen-Team unter Leitung von Chris Lueders und Martin Winkler nun auf eine 64-Bit Version der einst weit verbreiteten Gattung der ISDN- und DSL-Treiber in den Ablagerungen eines kürzlich freigelegten x64-Windo-Sauriers. Damit gilt als erwiesen, dass die cFos-Familie zu den wenigen Treiber-Arten gehört, die im Laufe ihrer Evolution gleich zweimal die Bitbreite erfolgreich verdoppeln konnte.

Dieser Sensationsfund stellt jene etablierten Theorien in Frage, denen zufolge solche Software-Formen mit dem Aufkommen von Breitband-Netzen akut vom Aussterben bedroht waren.
