Das Lasersystem In Tune für das Laser Scanning Mikroskop LSM 710 von Carl Zeiss erlaubt es, die Laserlinien zur Anregung von Fluoreszenzen im Bereich von 488 nm bis 640 nm frei zu wählen. Damit können Zellbiologen, Grundlagenforscher in der Biologie, Medizin und Biophysik sowie Physiologen Fluoreszenzmessungen durch- führen, die bisher nicht möglich waren. Das betrifft zum Beispiel die Bestimmung der Lebensdauer von Fluoreszenzfarbstoffen oder fluoreszierenden Proteinen, die Informationen über Prozesse in intakten Zellen liefert. In Tune ist die ideale Anregungsquelle für die dafür eingesetzte Technologie FLIM (Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy).
