CiA 417 (CANopen Lift) profile version 2.0 released

(PresseBox) ( Nürnberg, )
The CiA Special Interest Group (SIG) CANopen Lift has published the version 2.0 of the CANopen application profile for lift control systems (CiA 417). The completely restructured specification is partly incompatible to version 1.0. In particular, the specification for some virtual devices such as car drive has been revised significantly. Also some PDO specifications have been updated. The next CANopen Lift plugfest will already test interoperability of devices compliant to CiA 417 version 2.0. The SIG CANopen Lift will continue to add new virtual devices, but it is not intended to change the technical specification of the just released version 2.0. Part 1 and part 2 of the CiA 417 profile specification can be downloaded freeofcharge in order to provide an insight into CANopen lift. Companies, who like to implement CANopen Lift, need also part 3 and part 4 of CiA 417, which are only available for CiA members.

At the Interlift 2009 exhibition in Augsburg (Germany), CiA has demonstrated the interoperability between CANopen Lift devices from 12 companies. The CiA booth was more than well visited mainly by system designers, who like to learn more about the CiA 417 application profile for lift control systems. "The installed base of more than 4000 lift control systems and the increasing number of device manufacturers supporting CANopen Lift, elevates the standardized application profile to the next level," said Holger Zeltwanger, CiA Managing Director. Even in India, CiA has two new members interested in this profile: DSA Electro Controls and Omega Elevators. CiA is also exhibiting at the International Elevators and Escalators Expo in Mumbai (India). CiA will also participate in the Lift exhibition in Italy and several conferences in Germany. In addition, CiA is going to organize a German Road Show showing its CANopen Lift demonstrator.
