Die erste internationale MMC-Konferenz fand am 12. und 13. Juni in Nürnberg statt. Über 80 Teilnehmer nahmen an der Veranstaltung teil. Thematischer Schwerpunkt war die Steuerung von mobilen Arbeitsmaschinen, wobei die Sprecher teilweise sehr tief in die Technik einstiegen und auch aus dem Nähkästchen plauderten. Die von Hirschmann, Intercontrol, STW, Softing Automotive und Sontheim gesponserte Veranstaltung begann mit einem Vortrag des TÜV-Rheinlands über die Abnahme von Sicherheitsfunktionen in Maschinen für den Tagebau, bei der teilweise keine handelsüblichen Sicherheitssteuerungen verwendbar waren. Vortragende aus Deutschland, Finnland, Frankreich, Italien, der Türkei und den USA diskutierten neben Sicherheitsaspekte vor allem auch dedizierte Anwendungslösungen.
